THE ROUTE
The itinerary presents a selection of the most beautiful, technical and fun trails that develop in the woods around Vittorio Veneto, ranging from Perdonanze in the west to the Costa di Fregona in the east. There is no shortage of short non-cycle stretches scattered on almost all the trails, and the crossing of some private properties where transit is usually tolerated.
It starts with a stretch of plain in the Meschio valley up to Lake Madruc, a small stretch of artificial water that is bypassed on the path that laps its banks; then from the nearby hamlet of Anzano go up to Colors from where you reach the Caglieron Caves in Breda di Fregona.
There are numerous waterfalls, several meters high, with large potholes at the base.
In the deepest part of the gorge, large limestone concretions can be seen on the walls that close for a stretch and in part the vault, giving the whole the appearance of a cave. On the walls of the gorge there are large artificial cavities, obtained from the extraction of sandstone, the typical “piera dolza” (soft stone).
Going down to the valley on the asphalted road you will find the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute, a beautiful panoramic point, and then pedal towards Serravalle where you can visit the Cathedral to see the painting La Madonna del Tiziano.
Next to the Duomo you will see the famous Staircase of Sant’Augusta that leads to the Sanctuary (it would be done on another occasion on foot).
Then going through the center of Serravalle you reach the Castle of S Martino in Ceneda, closing with a descent you return to the starting point.
START POINT : Vittorio Veneto S Massimiliano Kolbe square
