THE ROUTE

The intricate bush of Montello hides numerous and unexpected signs of the past: the First World War, in particular, left indelible testimonies on the hill that today can also be visited on two wheels through an adventurous itinerary that winds mainly on mule tracks and secondary roads .

The itinerary continues meeting a panoramic point on the Piave River to then admire  the bunkers in the Santa Croce area: you can get off by bike or on foot to see them.

Going up beyond the village of Santa Croce – where the bells ring the song of the Piave at noon – , you will find the Monument of the Boys of 99 in honor of the young people who died in the conflict.

Going through the sockets and the narrow tracks, you gradually climb and then descend, until you reach the Baracca Monument through the woods, built where the famous aviator ,  remembered with his  prancing horse on his plane ,  was killed.

Then descending with a short path in the woods towards Giavera where you meet Villa Wassermann and the old center of Giavera del Montello.

Easy paths and wide dirt roads finally lead back to Santi Angeli through the woods.

Starting point: either from  Giavera city  Da Crema restaurant or from Santi Angeli di Giavera – Boomerang Restaurant.
